Additionally, you will require a pair of helping hands of your choosing. These materials will help you generate an accurate finished measurement for men’s pants.
Where to Focus Your Measurements
When measuring for men’s trousers, start with the waist measurement, then measure the hips, inseam, and outseam. These four elements will deliver the most accurate foundation for measuring men’s trousers.
❶ Waist – To measure a man’s waist, hold your measuring tape around the abdomen tightly, directly above the hip bones, and right below the belly button. Basically, you want to look for the natural indentation of the waistline and measure there.
❷ Hip – To measure a man’s hips, circle the measuring tape around the fullest part of the seat region. Be sure to pull the tape tightly to get an accurate reading. Then record your measurement.
❸ Inseam – To accurately measure the inseam of a man’s trousers, you will need to do the measurement with the pants on. Place your measuring tape along the inner seam of the left or right pant leg, starting where the pant leg seam meets the groin seam. Measure all the way down to the ankles and record your numbers. Do the same thing on the opposite leg, as some inseam measurements will not be the same.
❹ Outseam – To measure the out seem of a man’s pants, you also need to do the measuring with the pants on them. Begin by placing your measuring tape along the outer seam of the pants on either the left or right side of the trousers. Measure from the top of the waistband all the way down to the ankles and record your findings. Do the same measurement on the opposite pant leg. Record these findings as well.
