Now that the holidays are over, it is common to find yourself feeling a little less comfortable in your most comfortable pair of jeans. And since it is not likely an option for you to don elastic stretch pants all day, you’ll need to figure out another way to overcome the holiday bloat. But you don’t need to hit the treadmill extra hard or restrict yourself to all-juice diet. Instead, try out these easy and effective tricks for making your jeans more comfortable around the waist!
Here are some effective tricks for expanding the waistline of your favorite pair of jeans:
☑ Soak and Tug
Soak your jeans in a bucket or tub of warm water. Do not use cold water since it may tighten the denim fibers and reverse your objective. Allow the jeans to soak for a few minutes until they are entirely saturated. Remove them from the water, ring the excess water out, and then use your hands to stretch out the waistband of the jeans. Repeat this step as many times as needed, and then allow your jeans to hand dry.
☑ Tuck and Walk
Another way to stretch out the waistline of your jeans is to use the tuck approach. Start by putting on your pair of jeans. Then find something solid that can fit on the inside of the waistband, such as a deodorant stick or remote. Tuck them on the left and right side of your pants, and then walk around for an hour. This will stretch out the fibers enough to make the waistband a little looser. If you cannot fit something on both sides, just do one side.
☑ Iron and Heat
Use an iron to eliminate any wrinkles in your jeans. This will instantly give you more space. Then, continue to heat up the waistband until it’s hot. Put on your jeans while the denim is still hot, tuck your shirt in to avoid burning yourself, and walk around in your jeans for several minutes. This will make the fibers more flexible and give you more breathing room around the waistline.
☑ A New Button
For those who are handy with a sewing needle and thread, you can simply remove the existing button, and re-position it an inch or so to widen the waistline. Even with only a little sewing knowledge, this task is fairly simple and straightforward. If you want just a temporary fix that does not involve sewing, try using a rubber band instead. Simply unbutton your jeans, insert the rubber band through the button hole, and then loop both sides around the metal button. This gives instant leeway in the waistline, making it perfect for post-dinner plans.
